Hello!
In my heart, I am a lover of movement and dance. I was a ballroom dancer from a young age and as an adult became an Argentine tango dancer and teacher (photo below). Samba, West Coast Swing and Salsa are also on my list.
I am a hobbyist colour pencil artist, often drawing from Autumn to Spring, when the weather cools off.
I love international film, Nordic Noir television crime series and British comedy.
I feel an affinity to four cities of the world, Berlin, Buenos Aires, London and my home in Perth, Western Australia.
I took the trans-Mongolian railway across eleven timezones in 1996.
I consider myself highly intuitive and a ‘practitioner’ in the way I work. Others tell me they appreciate my insight, practical advice and sense of humour.
I have worked in health promotion, primary, public and population health for over 25 years. I enjoy the diversity of the work and the ability to influence health service design and public policy.
Community engagement and stakeholder partnerships are essential to public health success. I gained huge experience ‘on the ground’ in community settings. Much of the work has focused on prevention of the big health concerns in society, and targeted the social determinants of health with customised programs for high risk groups.
Workforce, organisational development & policy for health services, as well as cross-sector experience in State government gave me plenty of variety in my work, which I enjoy.
I started my career as an Occupational Therapist, working locally and in the UK, including mining and occupational rehabilitation. My first university course was chemical engineering, but I quickly (and thankfully!) realised I would make a terrible engineer.
I studied a certificate in dance movement therapy, learning so much about our non-verbal communication.
By now, you can probably tell I love learning. While raising my child, I added image consulting to the list, and completed extra studies in stakeholder engagement.
My business is a mix of all of my experience, which I love!
The arts taught me so much about style, communication and expression, that workplace education skipped over.
I use the insight & experience I have gained from both the arts and sciences in my business every day.
